A Stay at Wanda Reign on the Bund, Shanghai
Earlier this May, I had my first graduation trip with my mum and granny to their old hometown, Shanghai. Not only is Shanghai the wealthiest city in China, it's also one of the most culturally in-depth places here. With a mix of traditional Chinese cultures and colonial background, Shanghai has impressed me a lot with its own glamour.
This time, I'm staying with Wanda Reign on the Bund at the historic Bund side. Often crowned as the one and only '7-star hotel' by foreign media, Wanda Reign on the Bund was a 1-year new born with top standard luxury.
Located along the historic Bund, the hotel enjoyed a superior view of The Bund, Huangpu River and Pudong skyline. Besides, exquisite artworks featuring local artists were exhibited throughout the property and many traditional Chinese artworks say, Su Xiu (Suzhou embroidery) and more were incorporated into the interior design. Wall drawings behind the bed is probably one of my top hotel room obsessions- a proper drawing/decoration behind the bed just makes everything look so exquisite and artistic.
A working area as such was just perfect (and I totally felt as if I was a CEO hahaha!)
The bathroom's design was also unbeatable with many fine details!

Lunch at the RIVER DRUNK, the hotel’s Chinese, or more precisely, Huaiyang style restaurant was phenomenal and not something you should miss.

Dinner at the MARC was quite a surprising twist- I didn’t really expect some serious/proper food given the modern, relaxing vibes/interior. (You know most bars/ bar-like restaurants serve soso food with more focus on the drinks) However, the food ended up really nice and innovative, thanks to the Michelin-starred chef Marc Meneau's design. You should totally check it out!
My favourite of the restaurant was this foie gras x black truffle dish! It was super aromatic and flavourful!
Location and correspondingly the views are always some of the key factors to compare and evaluate various luxury hotels. And for Wanda Reign on the Bund, the views were no joke!
The concept of luxury is different to different people, and indeed various luxury hotel brands have their unique interpretations and hence presentations about ‘luxury’. Some love to hide it in subtle details while some love to show it off. Wanda Reign on the Bund to me is more like the latter one, but in an artistic and confident way.
To sum up, the whole stay was absolutely incredible and an eyeopening experience about the Chinese luxury hotel scene to me! The Wanda Reign on the Bund was a masterpiece with perfect hardwares (artistic and lavish design with full facilities) and heartwarming softwares (super helpful and caring staffs!) Its ‘the one and only 7-star hotel’ was no exaggeration at all!
