Earlier this March, I visited Seoul and had a decent stay at Sheraton Seoul D Cube City Hotel. This was the third Sheraton hotel I have stayed with and well the experience has been consistently good, if not better- I mean the best thing about staying in luxury hotel chains is that you never need to worry about the service quality. What was more amazing about Sheraton Seoul D Cube City Hotel was that the hotel facilities were all very new and diversified (I wish I had the time to visit their spa which was facing a 'daebaek' city view' but still I have enjoyed a lot!) Here are a few shots of mine:
One of the best things about my room was definitely the gorgeous city view!
But then, I found the city of stars....I mean if the day view was a 10/10, the night view from my room was surely a 20/10!
Their Club Lounge was another highlight- the service was great and the interior was soooooo amazing too!
The view, the view and the view- The view was everything!
Then I had a mindblown Strawberry feast at the Lobby Lounge!!
I told you- this strawberry feast was really MINDBLOWN!! And this Strawberry mountain was just HEAVENLY! Can I take all of them home?

It was really amazing how they managed to create soooooo many strawberry goodies! (They all looked DOPE)

This was totally crazy- you just can't say no to these lovely strawberry desserts!

But of course, you can't and shouldn't miss the king bed- it was so comfy and soft! Good night world!
All in all, I really loved my stay here at Sheraton Seoul D Cube City Hotel. The room design was very polished as shown. The hotel was also of convenient access by subway (right below the hotel) But still, the most memorable part to me was the strawberry feast!! I will totally come back again next year :D

I have always been a fan of luxury hotels. I mean- appreciating how different hotel brands interpret 'luxury' in their own unique ways is always fun and inspiring. Some hotels focus on maintaining a consistent style with their sister properties while some others value a lot on localisation.

This March, I visited Seoul and stayed at a local luxury hotel, namely The Classic 500 Pentaz Executive Residence. The stay was very impressive- from the spacious room to modern and the amazing amazing view. I just couldn't ask for more!
Ummmm.....I honestly couldn't think of any word other than 'spacious' and 'huge' to describe the room. Indeed, I was a bit 'lost' when I first walked around the house. (and when I did a room tour video for my Instagram stories, it took me three to complete!)
The interior was modern and comfy. I mean.....it was super homey- especially when you were well given a kitchen (with fridge, cooking ranges, stove and even OVEN). It was just too perfect for family/a small group of close friends. Some homecook with local ingredients, anybody's in?
Some more shots of the interior:
Almost every side of the suite was of large windows- that means...stunning view everywhere!
A working desk facing the beautiful city view of Seoul was always a big YES!! It definitely gave you more motivation to work!
Or let's stay chill and relax a bit on the huge and super soft sofa!

Overall, the experience was fantastic- it was fun staying here and I have grabbed a brief idea about how local modern home in Seoul were like. Compared to other international hotel brands, The classic 500 did come more homey and warm to me. And yes, it was perfect for family or a small group of friends!

This January, I had my first solo travel to one of the best metropolitan cities in Asia- Tokyo. It was totally a fun experience to travel alone- I mean this is how you go out of your comfort zone and meet some locals. During my visit, I stayed at the very classy and modern Strings by Intercontinental Tokyo which was of heartwarming hospitality.
Sitting by the window and enjoying the beautiful city view in sunlight was probably my favourite activity.

The bed was huge and very soft with some equally comfy sofa chairs at the side.

The room as a whole was of a very clean design with sophisticated details. I love how the colour tone was very calm and pleasant.

My working desk was just by the window. During daytime, the whole room would be well pampered by some gentle sunlight. How lovely!

Then I had a Tapa-tizer dinner at the Dining Room. It was surprisingly good! I mean- I'm more the traditional Japanese food or traditional Western meal type of guy that I didn't have much expectation over something in the middle. But my Yōshoku (Western-style Japanese Food) experience here did change my mind and yes- it was amazing how Japanese has infused Western elements into their culinary creation!

A breakfast buffet at Strings' main dining room would be a perfect start to your day!

However, sometimes we might want to sleep til late, or for me, go for an in-room breakfast! Breakfast with such gorgeous view of Tokyo is always a good idea isn't it?!

My #Intercontinentallife experience at the Strings by Intercontinental was totally a great one- modern and polished interior, decent food quality, friendly hotel staff... I definitely look forward to visiting again!

Visiting and staying in different hotels is fun- not only can you enjoy their hospitality, but you can also experience, learn and feel about the brand’s culture and spirits. I myself actually have a list of dream hotels and among them there is St. Regis. (Talking about St.Regis, isn't St. Regis New York every hotelier's goal??)

Being the most prestigious brand under the Starwood group, St. Regis is a luxury hotel brand with glorious legacy. Last October , I got a chance to stay in The St. Regis Macao and the experience as a whole was memorable. Here are a few recaps of the hotel's interior:

Their rooms in general are spacious, modern and comfortable.

White marble here, there and everywhere- this is definitely your #bathroomgoal!

My evening essentials: hot bubble bath, snacks, and some Champagneeee!!!! Any objection?

Had a short afternoon tea gathering with friends at the St Regis Bar and tried this Harmony Tea set which featured some local Macau food!

Bloody Mary, this signature drink of the St. Regis brand, is not something you should miss. Indeed, what’s so fun about their Blood Mary is that different St Regis hotels actually have their own interpretations of the drink. So at the end, out of curiosity, I got my Bloody Mary New York, Bloody Mary Singapore and for sure the Bloody Mary Macau to try! And the difference is definitely there!(You gotta feel it yourself hahaha!)

This idea was SO FUN and very meaningful at the same time- It tells how the group is trying to differentiate while linking their different hotels! They got some local inspirations (spirits) from different places and putting them into their common legacy (the drink). And learning about this whole story totally made my trip more interesting!

I also had a super full brunch at the Manor of the hotel, and that was SO GOOD! It was a 10-course set (yes this was CRAZY) with buffet of some appetisers, dim sum, seafood, desserts, and etc. Right they even had free-flow hairy crab (which I killed 3 of them on my own!) It was totally a NO-REGRET!

Concluding my first St.Regis experience, it was totally impressive! I love how they have maintained a low profile luxury style- everything was so sophisticated with details well hidden- and the fun part was they wouldn't brag about how much they have prepared, but let you experience and feel yourself.  And learning about the stories of this historic brand was fun and inspiring- I totally look forward to my next St. Regis experience!

Last month, I had a stay in Kowloon Shangri-La and joined the Shangri-La Festival of Gastronomy 2016. The festival featured an illustrious lineup of celebrated chefs with their special menus at 11 Shangri-La hotels worldwide. Being a loyal fan and regular visitor of Kowloon Shangri-La's restaurants, I was super excited and - the whole experience turned out to be really impressive.

Had my lunch at Angelini and tried out a special menu by the 2-star Michelin chef, Stefano Barocco :
------------------------------
Scalded yellowtail with stracciatella and balsamic spicy jelly
Seasonal vegetables braised in a cocotte with flowers and aromatic herbs
Arrabbiata style tortellini, grilled mackerel and watercress sauce
Roasted lamb shoulder, diavola style sauce, oil and chilli pepper pudding
Life in pink
------------------------------
Here are a few recap of the dishes:

All dishes were sophisticatedly executed- from presentation to the flavour, Chef Stefano definitely deserves the Michelin starred chef title!

Back to my room after the lunch and WOW- this billion dollar view of the Victoria Harbour right from my room...what else could you ask for?

The room was spacious with an elegant design!

When I asked for a king-size bed, and.... they might have given me the king of the kings! The bed was HUGE!

Later I had my dinner at Shang Palace, the 9-times Michelin 2-starred Chinese restaurant, the whole experience was extraordinary! The two special menus for the festival:
------------------------------
  • Chilled marinated abalone with Australian lemon caviar,
crispy crab meat box with bonito flakes and basil, marinated duck’s tongue with Sichuan pepper

Braised winter melon ring filled with imperial bird’s nest and
hairy crab roe in thick chicken broth

Deep-fried cod fillet (sustainable glacier 51) filled with celery,
    preserved vegetable and wild mushroom

Crispy-fried boneless pigeon filled with shrimp paste and topped with black caviar

Stir-fried rice vermicelli with Spanish red prawn and preserved vegetables

Chilled milk pudding with ginger jus and gold flakes, crispy sweetened egg ball with cheese, beetroot and bean curd soufflé

    ------------------------------
    • Chilled crab meat jelly with sake and sea urchin,
marinated foie gras with red wine, Korean kimchi,
chilled marinated Japanese scallop with Sichuan garlic sauce

Double-boiled French quail broth with “Maca” and fish maw

Steamed egg white and sliced spotted garoupa fillet with spring onion

Pan-fried Korean rib eye with Thai baby eggplant, sesame sauce

Fried glutinous rice with Spanish red prawn

Baked egg tart with bird’s nest and American ginseng,
baked red bean and tangerine pastry,
      glutinous rice dumplings with osmanthus

      ------------------------------
Here are a few recaps of the two menus!

The two menus were like a showcase of Chef Mok's creativity and fine culinary skills. I was totally impressed!!

All in all, I enjoyed my stay here a lot. Apart from the stunning Harbour view, Kowloon Shangri-la also impressed me with its heartwarming hospitality and amazing dining options. The Shangri-La Festival of Gastronomy 2016 was fun and eye-opening! I got the chances to chat with and learn from some of the best chefs on earth- they were totally inspiring! I definitely look forward to come back for more!
