Talking about the top 5-star hotels in Taipei, the Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel is always up there on the list. As one of the best and most well established hotels in town, this Shangri-La property is truly impressive with their amazing hospitablity. One of their biggest advantages of being the tallest hotel in town could be their unparalled views- totally postcard-like and I took like 100+ photos just for that!

During my recent stay at the property, it was super stormy throughout the whole city. However, this allowed me to stay longer inside the hotel and experience more. I definitely enjoyed the view from my room and indeed Taipei in rain came quite ‘poetry’ to me! I visited their gym and it was soooooo impressive- other than just offering iced water like most of the other hotel gyms, they got iced black sugar ginger tea, iced lemon water, iced lime water and iced orange water! I did visit quite a few really nice hotels around the world, but this was still the first time I got these- indeed this kind of most trivial details are often what makes a difference (when it’s like a ‘standard’ for 5-star hotels to have decent hardware and friendly staffs.)

The hotel was also famous of their rooftop swimming pool- it was unfortunately closed for maintenance during my visit. (I should totally come again for this haha!! It was the highest rooftop swimming pool in Taipei!)

And about their F&B, I had my breakfast at the Horizon Club and a lunch at the ibuki by TAKAGI KAZUO.I love how they got a few range of local food in their breakfast buffet (the Taiwanese honey cake was a must try!) For my Japanese lunch place, the food was fresh and decent while the interior was soooo nice!! It was also ‘Taiwan’s first Japanese restaurant to operate in concordance with Michelin standards’.

Overall, my stay at the Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel was very unforgettable and one of the best Shangri-la hotels I have stayed. I will totally come back again and hope for a sunny day haha!
